The CPI(M) staged a protest before the District Collectorate on Monday demanding house pattas, house sites and registration of existing pattas for poor families in Indira Gandhi Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Adarsh Nagar and Sundar Nagar.
CPI(M) leader R.K.S.V. Kumar said residents who had built houses in the colonies for over 30 years were being denied pattas citing gedda and forest land. He demanded pattas under G.O. No. 30 and registration under G.O. Nos. 296 and 388.
District committee member V. Narendra Kumar sought registration of pattas of those who had already paid money, correction of house measurements and removal of forest-related objections. He also demanded that survey No. 111 be removed and survey No. 108 included in pattas.
The CPI(M) sought two cents of land in the city for eligible homeless poor and houses for eligible tenants who had paid under Jagananna and TIDCO schemes. Party leaders and a large number of colony residents participated in the protest.
