A fire during the visit of Andhra Pradesh BJP chief P.V.N. Madhav, who came to the Fort City to participate in the BJP Seva Sankalp programme, caused mild tension in Vizianagaram on Tuesday (September 29, 2026).

The BJP activists burst crackers to welcome Mr. Madhav near an apartment en route to the BJP office. The crackers burst at Sai Kasturi Enclave caught fire and flames spread near the electric generator. The residents ran for safety as smoke filled all the flats, causing tension among women and elderly people. Later, a fire-fighting team reached the spot and doused the flames.

The residents of the flats had a heated argument with BJP leaders for not taking adequate care while bursting crackers. The party leaders promised to arrange a new generator and ensure repairs in the apartment. Mr. Madhav expressed displeasure over the incident and asked local leaders to take safety measures during meetings and celebrations.
