CRPF goes a year without losing a jawan in line of duty, first time in 47 years
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the country's largest paramilitary force, has achieved a significant milestone by completing 12 consecutive months without any operational fatality among its personnel. The development marks the first such period in 47 years, CRPF Director General GP Singh said on Sunday.
Singh announced the milestone in a post on X, highlighting its significance as the force continues to remain intensely deployed across the country's major operational theatres.
"A significant milestone in the history of CRPF - 12 consecutive months (One Year) have passed without any operational fatality in the force, the last operational fatality in the force being on October 30, 2025. This has happened after 47 years (last such period ended in January 1979)," the CRPF chief posted.
Officials said nine CRPF personnel were killed while performing operational duties in 2025, up to October 30.
The CRPF, with a strength of around 3.25 lakh personnel, plays a central role in India's internal security operations. Its responsibilities span three major operational theatres: anti-Naxal operations, anti-terrorist duties in Jammu and Kashmir, and counter-insurgency operations in the northeastern states.
Raised in 1939 under British rule, the force was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force in 1949, two years after Independence.
According to official data, 2,270 CRPF personnel, including jawans and officers, have laid down their lives in the line of duty so far.- Ends
