Cruise passenger allegedly had unwanted sexual contact with teen - USA Today

A man was arrested after allegedly having unwanted sexual contact with a teenager and supplying her with alcohol on a cruise.

Cody Gray, a 34-year-old Florida resident, met the 18-year-old passenger at an onboard club during a cruise that departed from Miami on Sept. 6, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Miami-Dade County. She had one alcoholic drink “on her own,” and Gray gave her three more, authorities said.

She became inebriated, and the pair “walked to the defendant’s cabin, where they had sexual intercourse” despite the 18-year-old telling Gray at the club that she did not want to, officials alleged.

Gray was charged with sexual battery, a felony, and giving alcohol to a minor, a misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty.

An attorney listed for Gray did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“The victim was unconscious after the intercourse, when her parents were located and directed to the subject’s cabin,” the affidavit said. “The victim advised the ship staff and her parents that she did not recall the details of what occurred inside the subject’s cabin but reiterated that she never consented to have any sexual activity with the subject.”

Gray was detained by the ship’s staff, and he was arrested upon its return to PortMiami. Authorities did not name the ship or cruise line.

The incident comes after an MSC Cruises lifeguard was arrested after allegedly having sexual contact with an underage guest in August.
