Just a day after closing ranks around MP Mark Burke, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Parliament has decided to remove him from serving on Parliament’s finance committees.
Parliamentary leader George Michalakis announced on Wednesday afternoon that Democratic Alliance (DA) MP Mark Burke has been removed from Parliament’s finance committees as a precautionary measure.
This comes after it emerged this week that the fintech company founded by Burke and currently run by his brother is under investigation by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) for exchange control violations.
On Tuesday, Burke clarified that he was no longer the chairman of the Kastelo group of companies, having resigned two years ago when he chose to pursue a political career.
