Damaged old, new currency notes and documents found near Visakhapatnam park

A pile of badly damaged currency notes found near the main entrance of Central Park in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday morning left morning walkers concerned, prompting them to alert the police.

The notes, in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 100, Rs 50, Rs 20 and Rs 10, were found scattered near a tree along the roadside close to the park. Pieces of some old currency notes were also reportedly found at the spot.

After receiving the alert, police personnel reached the spot and collected the damaged currency notes for examination.

Among the material found there were also documents, including an LIC premium receipt and a PAN card reportedly belonging to a woman. The presence of the documents along with the currency has prompted police to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to establish how the currency notes and documents reached the location and who dumped them there.
