Danny Jordaan secures fourth term as SAFA President - EWN

Danny Jordaan has been re-elected as president of the South African Football Association (SAFA), securing a fourth term at the helm of South African football.

Jordaan, who first took office as SAFA president in 2013, received 157 votes, defeating businessman Sandile Zungu, who garnered 82 votes.

Zungu mounted a serious challenge after being vetted and deemed eligible to contest the election by SAFA’s Compliance Committee.

Jordaan will now begin another four-year term and is expected to remain in office until 2030.

The elections were, however, surrounded by controversy, with four regions suspended on the eve of the elective conference.

Amajuba, Harry Gwala, Sarah Baartman and Pixley ka Seme were excluded from the voting process, reducing the regional voting bloc from 52 to 48 regions.

The voting rights of the South African Masters and Legends Football Association (SAMLEF) were also reportedly suspended.

Each region was allocated four votes, with the presidency decided through a secret ballot. The voting panel included representatives from the regions, the Premier Soccer League as a Special Member, and Associate Members.
