Delhi man calls cops over 'collapsing' house, but the scene leaves them puzzled

An intoxicated elderly man in Delhi left police and several emergency agencies scrambling after he called the authorities to report that his own house had collapsed, only for them to arrive and find the building standing perfectly fine.

The incident took place in Maidan Garhi in South Delhi, where an elderly man identified as Narendra made the call at around 3 pm. His claim of a building collapse triggered a response from multiple agencies, including the Delhi Police, fire department, CATS ambulance service, NDRF and MCD.

Teams rushed to the location expecting to find a collapsed structure and possibly people trapped under the debris. Instead, they were met with a completely intact house.

The bizarre situation became even more unusual when officials found Narendra in a heavily intoxicated state. Despite his family members repeatedly trying to convince him to go inside, he refused and continued questioning the officials.

At one point, the visibly drunk man even appeared to ask whether it was a crime to file a complaint about the condition of a building.

The recent spate of building-collapse incidents in Delhi had prompted the authorities to take the call seriously, resulting in several departments rushing to Maidan Garhi. However, once they reached the spot, it became clear that there had been no collapse and no loss of life or property.

While Narendra's call turned out to be a false alarm, his family members were seen apologising to the officials for the inconvenience caused by the incident.

As of now, no action has been taken against the elderly man over the call.- Ends
