Denmark's defense intelligence agency has warned of a growing risk that Russia could launch a limited military attack against a NATO member nation in the coming months.

The Danish Defence Intelligence Service released a report on its assessment of the threat from Russia on Thursday.

The analysis suggests that the attack, possibly on one or more NATO countries bordering Russia, may be intended to divert European resources away from supporting Ukraine.

It says such an attack could involve drone strikes on important infrastructure or the deployment of a limited number of military forces.

It also says Russia will intensify hybrid warfare, combining non-military measures with the use of weapons to cause confusion. This could include "destructive cyber attacks that cripple critical societal functions as well as sabotage attacks that carry a high risk of casualties."

But the report adds that there are no indications Russia will launch an outright invasion of one or more NATO countries.
