A departmental inquiry has been ordered against Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M.R. Ajith Kumar, who is currently under suspension for alleged interference in the probe into the assault of Youth Congress workers in Alappuzha
Director General of Police and BEVCO managing director Yogesh Gupta has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the inquiry.
Meanwhile, the suspended officer has submitted petitions to the Chief Minister and Home Minister seeking steps to reinstate him in service.
Since coming into power, the United Democratic Front (UDF) government had announced a reinvestigation into the Alappuzha incident in its first Cabinet meeting. Following an inquiry by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), Mr. Kumar was suspended from service for three months in July. His suspension was extended in October.
