Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka has taken a series of key decisions aimed at resolving the long-pending issues and problems faced by Singareni coal mine workers and their families.

The Minister held a high-level review meeting here on Tuesday with Singareni-area Ministers D. Sridhar Babu and G. Vivek Venkataswamy, MLAs K. Premsagar Rao, Matta Ragamayi, Koram Kanakayya, Maloth Ramdas Naik, Payam Venkateswarlu, K. Sambasiva Rao, Gandra Satyanarayana Rao, Makkan Singh Raj Thakur and G. Vinod Venkataswamy, State Minimum Wages Advisory Board Chairman Janak Prasad and senior officials of Singareni.

During the meeting, the public representatives brought several issues concerning Singareni workers and demands related to regional development to the Deputy Chief Minister’s notice. The Deputy Chief Minister instructed the authorities to complete all pending dependent employment orders, about 250 to 300, along with the related legal processes, within the next 15 days, and hand over the orders to the eligible applicants.

Regarding pending cases involving changes in the names of dependent employees, about 170 cases, the Deputy Chief Minister told the officials to adopt a humane approach and take appropriate decisions based on the recommendations of the Singareni Officers’ Committee constituted for this purpose.

On workers seeking medical invalidation, he said they should not be made to travel all the way to Kothagudem and told the designated Medical Board meeting be conducted every month at all area hospitals under Singareni, so that medical tests could be conducted locally for as many workers as possible and the medical invalidation process can be expedited.

On reinstatement of dismissed workers who did not attend to duties during the COVID-19 period or due to other local circumstances, he suggested they should be given a one-time option for reinstatement.

Regarding house sites for eligible beneficiaries, Mr. Vikramarka said, of the 5,774 acres of land allotted by the State government to Singareni, he stated that 4,500 acres were distributed as house-sites to the poor during the previous Congress government in combined Andhra Pradesh.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed the authorities to expedite the process of distributing house-sites to eligible beneficiaries for the remaining 1,250 acres.
