Detailed mapping of agro-processing clusters to augment export, investment potential

The proposed agro-processing clusters in Rajasthan will be mapped with the crop-wise and region-wise details to identify and augment their economic, investment and export potential. A concrete action plan would be formulated based on these findings, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas said in Jaipur on Thursday (September 10, 2026).
Work is underway in the State for developing 10 agro-processing clusters based on moong, mustard, soybean, kinnow, pomegranate, guava, orange, isabgol, cumin and garlic. The mapping of major production areas will facilitate their linkage with the processing units and markets.
Addressing a stakeholders’ meeting, Mr. Srinivas said the farmers would receive better returns for their produce if the entire value chain from farm to market was strengthened. He laid emphasis on creating more facilities for sorting and grading, packaging, cold storage, processing, transportation and supply systems, brand development and market linkages.
The Chief Secretary also asked the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to undertake the mapping of farmer producer organisations to assess economic potential of the proposed clusters. “This will help reduce post-harvest losses and provide farmers with better market access. The involvement of startups and micro processing units will also ensure optimum utilisation of the available resources,” Mr. Srinivas said.
Seven of the proposed clusters are eligible for the benefits of the National Horticulture Board’s cluster development programme. The concept proposals for three clusters based on guava, pomegranate and cumin have already been submitted, while the work is in progress to promote clusters through food parks, investment agreements and the schemes of the State government.
Principal Agriculture Secretary Manju Rajpal said as many as 39 food parks were proposed under the Rajasthan Food Park Development Policy-2026, for which the land had been allocated at 35 locations. There are 1,500 agro-processing units and 1,850 micro food processing units supported under the Prime Minister’s Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme.
