Dhanush-Mammootty's Om locks release date after avoiding clashes with Jailer 2, Scene

Actors Dhanush and Mammootty-starrer OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood has finally got a new release date. Days after the makers announced that the film would not release on October 16 as planned, the team has now confirmed that the film will hit theatres on November 20, 2026.

The makers announced the revised release date on Friday, sharing a new poster featuring Dhanush and Mammootty. With the November release, OM Chapter 1 has also moved away from the Diwali window, avoiding a potential clash with the Hindi film Ramayana Part One and Suriya's Scene. The Day for the Ultimate Strike is Here #OM Hits theatres worldwide on November 20, 2026.A @Rajkumar_KP Film.@dhanushkraja @mammukka @Sai_Pallavi92 @RTakeStudios @wunderbarfilms @SaiAbhyankkar #NaseeruddinShah @sreeleela14 @Shra2309 @azy905 @theSreyas @sandy_sashr pic.twitter.com/I5GBoL4HJT— Wunderbar Films (@wunderbarfilms) October 2, 2026

The film was initially scheduled to release on October 16, a day after Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 was set to arrive in theatres. The first installment of the franchise had earned over Rs 600 crore worldwide, making the clash a major one.

Earlier, Dhanush had announced the postponement last month, citing respect for Rajinikanth and the decision to avoid a clash with Jailer 2. In a statement on X, he wrote, “In times like these, shifting the release of a film comes with its own set of challenges. Our superstar, Rajinikanth sir, the man whom we all have admired and worshipped over the years, has his film arriving on October 15, just a day before ours. Out of immense respect for him, we have decided to postpone the release of our film, OM, to a later date.” #OM pic.twitter.com/tK5f6bigTo— Dhanush (@dhanushkraja) September 23, 2026

He also confirmed that the film would not target the Diwali release window, as Suriya's film had already been announced for the occasion. “In all fairness, they announced their date first, and we strongly believe that big films should have a mutual understanding and respect each other's decisions, keeping the larger welfare of the cinema and industry in mind,” Dhanush added.
