Disha Patani's sister Khushboo urges girls to use air pistols after Jamui incident

Actor Disha Patani's sister, former Indian Army officer Khushboo Patani, has advised women to consider keeping an air pistol for self-defence following a harassment and assault incident in Bihar's Jamui district. Demonstrating the operation of a compressed-gas air pistol in a video posted on social media, Khushboo urged women to undertake professional training at local shooting ranges rather than relying on external security.Demonstrating the mechanism of a .177 calibre air pistol, Khushboo explained that the equipment uses carbon dioxide cartridges rather than conventional gunpowder. She advised viewers that a reliable air pistol costs between Rs 60,000 and Rs 70,000, recommending that women learn quick-draw techniques and handling from established local shooting facilities. "You can buy this, keep this with yourself and protect yourself; don't depend on anyone. Otherwise, what's happening in India will not end," she said, emphasising the need for personal security measures.In an accompanying disclaimer, Khushboo stressed that the equipment is strictly meant for self-defence in extreme "do or die" situations. Advising against online purchases, she urged prospective buyers to consult licensed local district dealers to select a model with manageable weight and rapid handling speed. The female student was groped and sexually assaulted, while her male companion was physically attacked. Video footage of the harassment subsequently surfaced online.Following the incident, law enforcement authorities registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, forming a Special Investigation Team to trace the perpetrators. Police confirmed that five individuals, including the primary accused, were arrested by September 23, with operations ongoing to trace the remaining suspects.Recently, police in Bihar's Jamui have arrested two more accused, named Saurabh Ram and Chhotu Ram, in connection with the harassment of a minor girl, taking the total arrests in the case to seven.Khushboo had earlier issued a public statement on September 22 questioning the state of law and order and calling for strict judicial action against the accused.
