DNCC administrator inspects Mirpur 10, orders action after hawker eviction
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) administrator Safiqul Islam Khan has inspected Mirpur 10 at night and directed officials to speed up several civic measures in the area.
He drove himself around parts of Mirpur around 11pm on Monday, according to a DNCC media statement, and ordered the disconnection of illegal electricity connections used by evicted hawkers.
He also ordered the quick implementation of a tree-planting programme in areas cleared of hawker structures, along with cleanliness drives to tackle dengue, drainage improvements and dustbin installation.
The DNCC said illegal posters and leaflets had been removed from metro rail pillars and nearby walls between Mirpur 10 and Shewrapara.
Safiqul also reviewed plans for graffiti under a city corporation initiative.
He gave officials further instructions to turn Mirpur 10 into a “clean and orderly” area.
