The Nigerian naira opened Tuesday, September 15, 2026, with the local currency trading at about ₦1,326.30 per dollar at the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), while the greenback was quoted at around ₦1,385 to ₦1,410 in the parallel market.

The latest official figure published by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the NFEM rate stood at ₦1,326.3014/$ on Monday, September 14. The rate is derived from the volume-weighted average of transactions in the official market.

At the parallel market, current market trackers put the dollar at about ₦1,385 per dollar on the buying side and ₦1,410 on the selling side on Tuesday. Rates can vary between dealers, locations and transaction sizes.

The parallel-market selling rate of ₦1,410 represents a premium of about ₦83.70 over the latest official NFEM rate of ₦1,326.30.

This means Nigerians buying $100 at the parallel-market selling rate would need about ₦141,000, while $1,000 would cost approximately ₦1.41 million.

The naira has maintained relative stability at the official window in recent trading sessions, with the CBN’s latest data showing the currency at ₦1,326.30/$ on September 14.

Meanwhile, the gap between the official and parallel markets continues to reflect differences in dollar supply, demand and access across the two segments of the foreign exchange market.

Exchange rates remain subject to changes during the day as market conditions, dollar liquidity and demand fluctuate.

For September 15, the latest available rates therefore put the dollar at approximately ₦1,326.30/$ at NFEM and between ₦1,385 and ₦1,410/$ in the parallel market.
