Educators, Professionals Harp on Digital Initiative to Boost Nigeria’s Academic Knowledge - THISDAYLIVE
Educators, professionals, entrepreneurs and other knowledge providers have been urged to take their expertise beyond the traditional classroom by converting their knowledge into structured digital learning products.
Speaking in Ilorin yesterday on the sidelines of educational development event in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, the Chief Executive Officer of Spoilert, Dr. Opeyemi Abe, said that, Spoilert was created to provide a digital platform where individuals and institutions could package, share and potentially earn from their knowledge through structured learning products known as “Spoylz”.
He explained that a Spoylz could combine videos, PDFs, slides and text, organised into modules and lessons to give learners access to structured knowledge beyond the physical classroom.
According to him, Spoilert allows lecturers, professionals, entrepreneurs and skilled individuals to transform their expertise into digital learning products that can reach learners beyond their immediate environment.
Dr. Abe said the platform also enables creators to publish and manage their Spoylz, build portfolios around their expertise and monitor indicators such as views, enrolments, ratings and earnings.
He noted that Spoilert was not limited to individual educators, explaining that universities and other institutions could also use the platform to extend courses, lectures, research-based materials and other learning resources beyond their campuses.
The Spoilert CEO said the platform’s model was built around four key activities – learn, teach, earn and grow – giving knowledge providers an opportunity to share their expertise while creating potential value from their intellectual resources.
Dr. Abe also highlighted Spoilert’s “Sponsor a Spoylz” initiative, through which individuals and organisations can sponsor another learner’s access to a learning product.
He said the initiative could provide another avenue for students, young people and other learners to gain access to skills and knowledge that may otherwise be difficult for them to afford.
Dr. Abe urged educators and professionals to take advantage of Spoilert to preserve, package and distribute their knowledge while contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s digital knowledge economy.
