Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta has said that 40,000 police personnel have been deployed at 31,472 polling stations for the ZPTC and MPTC elections scheduled to be conducted in the State on November 5.
“Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the peaceful conduct of polling for 582 ZPTC and 7,778 MPTC seats,” the DGP said on Wednesday.
“In all, 1,841 high sensitive polling stations and 2,645 sensitive polling centres have been identified and additional security forces deployed at these centres,” he said.
Besides Law and Order police officers, 111 Andhra Pradesh Special Police platoons and 335 officers from the Communications Wing had been deputed for polling duty, he said.
“A special communication centre has been set up to ensure better communication between the officers and staff engaged for election duties,” the DGP said.
Senior police officers from the Command Control Centre would monitor the situation through CCTVs, videography, Samarth App, body-worn cameras and drones, he added.
Stern action would be taken against those who disturb law order and obstruct polling, Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta warned.
