Elite WR recruit, Georgia target decommits from FSU football - UGA Wire
The Georgia Bulldogs were at one time predicted to land a commitment from elite wide receiver recruit Majay Thompson, who is a member of the class of 2027. Now, Thompson has decommitted from the Florida State Seminoles after FSU fired head coach Mike Norvell.
"After conversations with my people, Iβve decided to decommit and reopen my recruitment," Thompson announced via social media. "I appreciate everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Excited for whatβs next!"
Thompson visited Georgia football in the spring and strongly considered the Bulldogs before committing to the Seminoles. Thompson came to Athens, Georgia, for UGA's annual scavenger hunt recruiting weekend.
Thompson is ranked as a three-star recruit. He also took official visits to Wake Forest and Alabama in the spring. The Florida State decommit is one of the better uncommitted players in the country right now.
The 6-foot, 185-pound wide receiver plays high school football for Crest High School in Shelby, North Carolina. Thompson is ranked as the No. 71 wide receiver in America and the No. 19 recruit in North Carolina, per the 247Sports Composite. The Crest receiver is the No. 530 recruit in the class of 2027.
