Escudero calls out Abante for being 'tired' amid Sara Duterte impeachment trial - GMA Network

Senate impeachment court presiding officer Francis “Chiz” Escudero on Monday called out Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante for being apparently asleep during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Escudero asked House prosecution adviser and former Surigao del Norte. Rep. Ace Barbers and House prosecutor Lorenz Defensor to give Abante a nudge because “it seems, he is tired.”

“He may want to rest somewhere, but at least not right behind the witness,” Escudero said.

It was Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) Division Chief Rendell Sopeña who was at the witness stand at the time. Abante was sitting at the VIP section of the Senate session hall.

House lead prosecutor Gerville Luistro of Batangas tried to make light of the moment by saying Abante is “praying for the prosecution.”

Escudero said, “I doubt that,” although with a wide smile.—AOL, GMA News
