ESPN proposes hypothetical Colts-Vikings Jonathan Taylor trade - Colts Wire
With the NFL trade deadline looming, several ESPN analysts proposed hypothetical deals, which includes the Indianapolis Colts moving on from Jonathan Taylor.
In this deal, Judy Battista has the Colts sending Taylor to the Minnesota Vikings, and in return, Indianapolis receives 2027 second- and third-round picks, along with two 2027 fifth-round selections.
"It's a haul (similar to one that sent RB Christian McCaffrey to the 49ers in 2022), but the Vikings need Taylor's home run threat to pair with QB Kyler Murray's explosive rushing ability," Battista wrote. "The Colts, engaged in a fire sale and potentially hoping to get a first-rounder for Taylor, get plenty of draft picks to help kickstart what looks like a total rebuild."
Up to this point, the Colts have received interest in Taylor, but no deal has consisted of what Indianapolis is looking for.
According to SI's Albert Breer, the Colts are either searching for a first-round pick in return for Taylor or a Christian McCaffrey-like deal, when the 49ers sent 2023 second-, third-, and fourth-round picks, and a 2024 fifth-rounder to the Panthers.
Ian Rapoport also reported again recently that the Colts don't feel like they have to move Taylor and are willing to build around him moving forward.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that "the belief around the league is that, barring an offer that blows them away, Indianapolis plans to wait until after Sunday’s game vs. the Cowboys before revisiting the offers on the table."
