Eumir Marcial returns with 3rd-round KO of Mexican foe - GMA Network
Eumir Marcial made a triumphant return to the professional ranks, knocking out Omar Huerta in the third round on Sunday morning (Philippine time) at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.
Marcial absorbed a big shot from Huerta before answering with a booming check right hook that sent the Mexican-American boxer crashing to the canvas.
Huerta was unable to beat the count, with the official stoppage coming at the 1:44 mark of the third round.
The Filipino kept his professional record unblemished at 8-0. Huerta, meanwhile, dropped to 15-2-2.
The victory also ended a 10-month layoff for the Olympic bronze medalist in the pro ranks.
The ZamboangueΓ±o last fought in the pros in October 2025, though he saw action at the Southeast Asian Games in December of the same year. During the biennial meet, Marcial won the lone boxing gold medal for the Philippines before returning to the professional ranks in San Diego.
