Erdoğan's May 9 Europe Day message was shared on the NSosyal account of the Presidential Communications Directorate.

In his message, President Erdoğan stated that May 9th Europe Day, the day when the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations of European integration, was announced, is not only one of the symbols of the European Union, but also a concrete indicator of the goal of building a common future based on peace, cooperation and mutual respect in the continent.

"The wars, political crises and economic difficulties whose effects are felt on a global scale have made it essential for the European Union to pursue more inclusive and unifying policies. Türkiye, as a candidate country to the European Union, continues to be an essential and indispensable element of this process. At this point, it is clear that a European architecture in which Türkiye does not take its rightful place would be incomplete and weak in its capacity to manage crises. As we have stated before, the European Union's need for Türkiye is greater than Türkiye's need for the Union, and this need will increase even more in the future."

President Erdoğan underlined that Türkiye has the will to advance relations with the European Union with a win-win approach with the perspective of full membership on the basis of the principle of fidelity and said in his message: "We expect this sincere will to be displayed by the European Union as well. With these thoughts, I hope that May 9th Europe Day will be instrumental in peace, tranquility and solidarity in our common geography, and I congratulate the European peoples, especially our citizens, on Europe Day."
