Ex-Labour Party South-West coordinator dumps party, defects to APC - Punch Newspapers

A former South-West Coordinator of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 election, Sola Ebiseni, has defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress. Ebiseni, who is also the Secretary-General of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, declared his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. The legal practitioner made the declaration when he visited the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at the Government House in Akure on Thursday. Ebiseni said he and his supporters had been integrated into the APC campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. Receiving the defectors, Aiyedatiwa said Ebiseni’s political experience and activities across Ondo State, as well as his role in Afenifere and other socio-cultural organisations, would add value to the campaign for Tinubu’s re-election.See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google The governor said, “Chief Ebiseni’s position as Secretary-General of Afenifere and his activities in other sociocultural organisations are an added advantage to the tasks ahead. He and his supporters would no doubt add value to the President’s re-election campaign, to which the APC and the people of Ondo State are absolutely committed. “We know you, Ebiseni, as one of our leaders in the state, and your political activities across the state and your roles in Afenifere and other sociocultural organisations in the country will be an added advantage and value to the tasks ahead of us.” Aiyedatiwa also said the presence of the APC state chairman at the meeting was to assure Ebiseni and his supporters of their integration into the party’s campaign structure for the forthcoming elections. We have also engaged with political gladiators in the process,” he said. Ebiseni said the group’s findings, which he said informed its decision to support Tinubu, would be made public. “Our findings, which informed our declaration for the President’s second term, will be made public in greater detail soon,” he said. He added, “Above all, particularly in the area of security, it is in the national interest to support the current Commander-in-Chief and build on his new salutary security architecture, rather than experimenting with a new architecture and design.” Peter Dada
