The ABC understands former professional cyclist Rohan Dennis has been reported for driving while disqualified.

In a statement, SA Police said they apprehended a 36-year-old Medindie man just after 4pm on Thursday, after observing him driving a vehicle with two children as passengers.

They said the man's vehicle had been impounded for 28 days and he would be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Last year, father-of-two Dennis, 36, was handed a suspended sentence for the events leading up to the death of his Olympian wife Melissa Hoskins in December 2023.

Dennis was handed a 17-month prison term — but that sentence was suspended on a two-year good-behaviour bond.

He was also banned from driving for five years.

Dennis pleaded guilty in 2024 to an aggravated charge of creating likelihood of harm over Ms Hoskins's death.

Ms Hoskins was struck by a car driven by Dennis, on the street in front of the couple's home in Medindie, in Adelaide's inner north.

Prosecutors dropped a charge of dangerous driving causing death and an aggravated charge of driving without due care.

Ms Hoskins was a two-time Olympian and a renowned road and track cyclist who represented Australia at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Dennis also competed in two Olympics.

He won a stage at the Tour de France in 2015, as well as a team time trial.
