EXCLUSIVE: Star female golfer fires back at Sydney Sweeney critics: 'She's got sex appeal'
Smokin' Charley Hull has heard enough criticism of Sydney Sweeney.
During an interview Thursday with OutKick to promote the upcoming "on!vitational" indoor golf tournament (Oct. 16-17; SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida), the LPGA star made it clear she's tired of claims that Sweeney is ruining women's sports with her nearly naked commercial to promote prediction market platform Novig.
"The amount of backlash that (it) is getting, I just don't understand the way people's brains work," the world’s 8th-ranked female golfer said of the ridiculous reactions from other female athletes who completely overreacted.

"They're making a big deal out of nothing. It's an actress slash model modeling for an advert. And I think she owns the company as well," Hull added. Sweeney holds an undisclosed equity stake in Novig.
Hull, 30, is clearly enjoying her spot in sports right now as the sane voice of reason. Isn't she scared of backlash for her comments? Absolutely not. In fact, she kept going.
"And probably it's 80% of the audience of that company would be males anyway, who do betting or whatever it is," Hull, who now gets her nicotine fix from on! pouches instead of cigs, told OutKick. "So I think it's a great idea. I don't understand how it's turning back women's sports because it's not.
"She's got a great figure, she's got sex appeal. And I think, I don't think there's something wrong with it. She's just a pretty girl. I think people are making a big hoo-hah over absolutely nothing."

After being asked what's more annoying, slow golfers or Sydney Sweeney critics, Hull responded, "Both," before a PR representative stepped in to move the conversation along.
Even as we pivoted back to talking about golf and this upcoming indoor tournament, Charley was still fired up. "I just feel like it's a good opportunity to, you know, grow the game of golf in a different kind of way rather than being an old man sport. I think this is kind of like a young, kind of cool vibe," she said of the "on!vitational."
And Charley, who is superstitious to the point where she will only use mint pouches during the LPGA season, says she can't wait to try the mango, pineapple and blueberry mint pouches.

If you're getting John Daly vibes from Hull, you're not alone. Many within the golf world have made the comparison, but, we learned Thursday that these two have never golfed together.
"I really would love to play golf with him and I think the 'on!vitational' would be something that he'd enjoy because it's a fun event. He seems like a proper legend," she added.
