Family of missing SA journalist Micah Reddy pleads for his safe return - EWN

The family of missing South African investigative journalist Micah Reddy has called on the government to ensure he's returned home safely.  

Reddy disappeared in Djibouti on Saturday after travelling to the East African country on assignment. 

His local fixer, Kooki Mahmoud, is also believed to be missing. 

The Reddy family said they are very concerned about his disappearance.

His brother Nial Reddy said he went missing at about 1 pm on Saturday.

"He hasn't been heard from in over 24 hours now. He was in Djibouti on a news story unrelated to that country." 

The family is putting their faith in the SA government to locate Reddy.

"We trust that the SA government will do everything in its power to get my brother back home." 

South Africa's Department of International Relations and Cooperation has confirmed it is aware of the case but says it cannot provide further details at this stage. 

The Committee to Protect Journalists has since called on Djiboutian authorities to urgently clarify the whereabouts of both men and ensure their safety.
