Family of slain woman in Ekurhuleni calling for the reinstatement of the death penalty - EWN

The family of one of nine women found murdered in Ekurhuleni is calling for the reinstatement of the death penalty.

38-year-old Dineo Motapane's loved ones are still struggling to come to terms with her gruesome murder.

Motapane's body was found on the side of the road in Kwathema on Tuesday.

She is a victim in a series of killings in the metro, reported since July.

As the community, government and political parties continue to visit the Motapane home, her loved ones are still grappling with unanswered questions.

They say the circumstances in which her body was found on the side of the road make it even harder to understand what happened to her.

At the time her body was discovered, the family was preparing for another funeral and Motapane had not yet been reported missing after she was last seen on Sunday.

Her aunt, Martha Goge said that they are hopeful her killer or killers will be found soon.

"We want whoever did this to come forward. Even if they phone and tell us where our daughter was murdered. Because where her body was found, it's clear she was dumped there, which means she died elsewhere. We don't know if it's a boyfriend, or if it could be anyone else, because at the scene, nothing points to the murder having happened there. There's not even a blood stain."

Motapane leaves behind a two-year-old daughter.
