Father's fake ultrasound scares daughter into quitting junk food, debate follows

A father’s attempt to stop his daughter from eating junk food hasn’t really impressed social media users after a video showed him pretending to scan her stomach for worms.

The video was posted by Instagram user Archana Singh where the man was seen using a mouse connected to a laptop as a makeshift ultrasound device, moving it across his daughter’s stomach. The laptop screen appeared to show a fake demonstration of worms inside her stomach.

The child was visibly scared and started crying before hugging her mother. She then vowed to stop eating junk food.

Archana Singh shared the clip with the caption, “A father’s fake ultrasound cured her daughter’s junk food habit in one go.”

The video divided viewers, with some questioning whether frightening a child was an appropriate way to discourage unhealthy eating habits. “The child needs a lawyer,” one person commented.

Another user questioned the lesson the child might learn from the prank, saying, “And then we are surprised when children start lying and deceiving others by telling white lies. I wonder where they learnt it from.”

“Well, that’s one way to teach your child,” another person wrote, while some viewers expressed concern that the incident could traumatise the child.

The video comes weeks after a similar classroom demonstration went viral on social media.

Earlier this month, X user Neetu Khandelwal had shared a video showing a teacher using what appeared to be “worms” forming inside students’ stomachs to discourage them from eating junk food.

The classroom demonstration appeared to show the teacher explaining the supposed effects of eating chips, biscuits and chocolates to children. The video was presented as an attempt to teach students about the harmful effects of unhealthy food.- Ends
