FBI investigating possible cyber breach of its job application website: Sources

The FBI is assessing what information may have been compromised, sources said.

The FBI is investigating a possible cyber breach of its primary job application site, FBIjobs.gov, sources told ABC News. 

Since 2017, the site has been the primary place for job seekers to apply for employment at the FBI for agent and other support positions. 

The FBI is continuing to assess the extent of the breach and what information may have been compromised, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Earlier Tuesday, in a brief statement, the FBI said it was aware of claims regarding unauthorized activity on the site.

"The FBI is aware of claims regarding unauthorized activity affecting FBIjobs.gov and is currently investigating," the statement said.

404 Media reported Tuesday that a hacking group claimed responsibility for hacking employees' data. ABC News has not verified the group's claims.
