The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled. The ministry assured students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders that necessary arrangements had been put in place to support a safe, smooth and seamless commencement of the new academic session. In a statement released by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folashade, on the ministry’s X handle on Friday, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, gave the assurance, saying the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning. “The safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” Alausa said. The minister said relevant security agencies had been duly informed of the resumption arrangements and were maintaining heightened vigilance around the Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments. He said the coordinated efforts were aimed at safeguarding students, staff and school communities as academic activities resume across the country. Alausa urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with their preparations to ensure that their children and wards return to their respective Federal Unity Colleges on Monday as scheduled. He also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with relevant security agencies and other relevant authorities to facilitate an orderly and secure resumption. The Federal Ministry of Education said it would continue to monitor developments and take all necessary measures, in collaboration with the appropriate authorities, to ensure the smooth and safe resumption of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring that Nigerian children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive environment. It said the commitment was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which recognises education and human capital development as essential to Nigeria’s sustainable growth and national development.
