Fenerbahçe fans have practically started counting down the days until Romelu Lukaku’s arrival. Eager to finalize their second striker signing as soon as possible, the Yellow-and-Blue club’s management first sat down with the player’s attorney, Sebastian Ledure, and reached an agreement in principle.
While they had offered Napoli, the Belgian player’s club, a 6 million euro transfer fee for this deal, the offer was rejected. It has emerged that the Serie A club’s minimum transfer fee expectation for Lukaku—who also has suitors in Saudi Arabia—is 10 million euros.
The yellow-and-navy management, unwilling to go above 10 million euros in this transfer move, has entered into intense negotiations with Napoli officials. A detail strengthening Fenerbahçe’s hand in the Lukaku transfer is the star striker’s desire to continue his career in Turkey.
Fenerbahçe executives, leveraging this factor in their negotiations with Napoli, are expected to finalize the transfer within the next few days. Reports in the Italian press also continue to suggest that a deal for Lukaku’s transfer to Fenerbahçe is nearing completion.
The experienced forward, whose name has been linked with Turkish clubs on numerous occasions throughout his career, has previously played for Anderlecht, Chelsea, West Bromwich, Everton, Manchester United, Inter, Roma, and Napoli. Lukaku has also represented the Belgian national team in 132 matches since 2010, scoring 93 goals and providing 20 assists.
Romelu Lukaku’s agent, Federico Pastorello, had also made it clear in previous statements that the player wanted to leave. Stating that the star forward would not accept a bench role at Napoli, Pastorello addressed the uncertainty surrounding his client’s future in an interview with Sky Sport Italia as Lukaku entered the final year of his contract at Stadio Maradona. Lukaku missed nearly the entire 2025-26 season due to a serious muscle injury he suffered during the preseason and was able to play only 64 minutes at the club level.
