Feroz Khan's Madlanga testimony postponed after relative shot dead - IOL
Madlanga Commission has postponed the testimony of fired crime intelligence deputy, Feroz Khan, following the death of his uncle in law, Preggy Padayachee.
The Madlanga Commission has postponed the in-camera testimony of former crime intelligence deputy Feroz Khan after his uncle-in-law, Preggy Padayachee, was shot dead on the R21 in Ekurhuleni on Monday evening.
Khan appeared before the commission remotely on Tuesday morning, but the hearing could not proceed after the fatal shooting of Padayachee the previous night.
βHowever, due to the death of a family member resulting from a shooting incident on the R21 in Gauteng last (Monday) night, Mr Khan is not in a position to testify today,β the commission said.
βThe Commission has therefore postponed the testimony of Khan to a date which has yet to be determined.β
Further details on the rescheduled hearing are expected to be announced by the Commission.
Padayachee was killed while travelling towards OR Tambo International Airport.
Police said the shooting occurred near Griffiths Road, where a friend travelling with him was also wounded.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation, with police treating the case as murder and attempted murder. No arrests have been reported.
The killing has also raised questions about whether Padayachee was deliberately targeted.
He had reportedly received death threats before the shooting, although police have not established a motive.
A source cited by IOL suggested the threats could have been connected to business interests.
βThis may be related to business,β the source said.
The postponement comes as Khan faces serious allegations before the commission, including claims involving corruption, fraud, interference in police investigations and alleged criminal collusion.
Among the allegations being examined is the alleged manipulation of a R280-million National Treasury IT contract.
Khan is accused of working with tobacco executive Mohamed βMoβ Sayed and senior police officer Lt-Gen Molefe Fani to influence the tender process and secure kickbacks.
Witnesses and investigators have also raised allegations of interference in sensitive drug investigations, including the 2021 Aeroton cocaine bust.
Other evidence presented to the commission concerns Khanβs alleged access to the contents of a 2018 assault docket involving him before he had given his warning statement.
The evidence has raised questions about his relationship with former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption head Advocate Andrea Johnson.
The commission has additionally scrutinised medical certificates submitted by Khan and heard allegations that sick notes were backdated or altered.
Evidence leaders presented affidavits from Khanβs treating doctor concerning alleged pressure to amend documentation.
Khan was separately arrested in May 2026 alongside Gauteng Hawks head Ebrahim Kadwa in a case involving alleged unlawful possession of precious metals and defeating the ends of justice.
