FG seeks private sector support to advance space economy - Punch Newspapers

The Federal Government, through the National Space Research and Development Agency, has called for increased private sector participation in Nigeria’s space ecosystem to accelerate the growth of the country’s space economy. The Director-General and Chief Executive of NASRDA, Professor Matthew Adepoju, made the call when he received a delegation from STUPH CHAIN LLC during a courtesy visit to the agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Friday. Adepoju, who was represented by NASRDA’s Director of Media and Corporate Communications, Felix Ale, commended the company for its innovative contributions and efforts to introduce technology-driven experiences at the forthcoming Africa Space Economy Innovation and Communication Conference 2026. He said strategic private sector engagement remained important to achieving Nigeria’s space ambitions. “Strategic private sector engagement remains integral to advancing Nigeria’s space ambitions, and their effort towards adding value to the conference is a step in the right direction,” Adepoju said.See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google He also assured the delegation of the agency’s support, promising to provide the necessary information to enable the company to achieve its objectives. “The Agency is committed to providing the necessary information and support to enable them to achieve their goals,” he said. Speaking during the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of STUPH CHAIN LLC, Ogegbo Babajide, said the company was seeking approval for souvenir designs developed for ASEICC 2026 while exploring other areas of collaboration with NASRDA. Babajide said, “The visit was to get approval for souvenir designs made by the company towards the forthcoming ASEICC conference, as well as engage the management of the Agency on further areas of collaboration.” He disclosed that the company had developed an application for the conference that would allow participants to take live photographs and experience an immersive, galaxy-themed environment designed to simulate the feeling of being in space. “We have developed an application for the conference that will allow guests to take live photographs and experience an immersive, galaxy-themed environment, and simulate the feeling of being in space,” Babajide said. He added that STUPH CHAIN would provide 50 per cent of the entertainment at the conference through its network of entertainers. “STUPH CHAIN will be responsible for 50 per cent of the entertainment at the event, leveraging its connections with entertainers to deliver engaging experiences for conference participants,” he said. The planned digital and entertainment features are expected to enhance the experience of participants at ASEICC 2026 while promoting technology and innovation within Nigeria’s growing space ecosystem.
