The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two suspects and registered a case against eight people for allegedly operating an online gambling and hawala-hundi network. The action followed a State Bank report of Rs119 billion in transactions through five bank accounts.
According to the FIA, the suspects allegedly used fake companies and bank accounts to receive and transfer proceeds from online gambling through banking and cryptocurrency channels.
The agency said billions of rupees were transacted through eight companies in 2024 and 2025, with one account showing over Rs33 billion in credit turnover. Muhammad Zeeshan and Muhammad Hamza were arrested, while further investigation into their alleged accomplices and financial transactions was under way.
