Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV alleges on October 2, 2026 that the name Ang Hai Peng in the corporate records of a company tied to Vice President Sara Duterte belongs to a person who does not exist.
Who is behind the Chinese name that had appeared — but later disappeared — in the corporate records of Vice President Sara Duterte’s company?
Ask former senator Antonio Trillanes IV, and he will tell you it’s a person who doesn’t exist.
During his press conference on Friday, October 2, Trillanes put the spotlight on Ang Hai Peng, which Trillanes said appeared in the records of Timesquare Bee Foods, a company incorporated by Duterte, as per her assets list over the years.
Trillanes said the company’s corporate documents showed that Ang owned 60% of the company from 2013 to 2013. The company was later renamed Gencorp.
Gencorp’s records with the Securities and Exchange Commission didn’t bear Ang’s name beginning 2022. The top shareholder has become the JTC Group of Companies, owned by Jaime T. Cruz.
Cruz is a business partner of the Dutertes. His name appears in numerous corporate documents co-owned by the Vice President, her husband Mans Carpio, and her siblings Paolo and Sebastian Duterte.
Central to Trillanes’ allegation is that Peng does not have government records.
“They have no birth certificate, they have no passport, their TIN is fake, and, incidentally, their birthday is the same as Jaime T. Cruz’s,” Trillanes claimed.
“They are one person. I am one hundred percent person that [Ang Hai Peng] is nonexistent,” he added.
We have emailed JTC Group of Companies’ email address for Cruz’s side of the story. We will update this story once we receive a reply.
Rappler first reported about Jaime T. Cruz in mid-September as part of our exposé on Gencorp and how it has bagged millions of pesos in contracts with Davao City Hall led by Mayor Sebastian since 2022. The arrangement raises conflict of interest and constitutional violation issues against the Vice President.
The prosecution’s team has zeroed in on Gencorp at the impeachment court, but it has yet to say whether it will actually call Cruz a witness.
With Trillanes no longer in prosecution’s witness lineup, it remains to be seen whether the issue he has raised will find their way somehow into the impeachment court. – Rappler.com
