TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malaysia defeated Bangladesh 3–0 in a Group A, Division 1 match of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Friday.
According to FIFA records, Malaysia scored a victory over Bangladesh in that match thanks to two goals from Arif Aiman and Bergson.
With three points from one match, Malaysia topped Group A of Division 1 of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, while Bangladesh sits at the bottom of the table with no points.
As ANTARA reported, Malaysia took the initiative by attacking first and immediately pressuring Bangladesh's defensive line. However, they could not score in the opening 10 minutes of the match.
Malaysia had an opportunity to score when midfielder Manuel Hidalgo took a shot, but it did not result in a goal. The Harimau Malaya took the lead in the 18th minute after a pass from Nooa Laine was converted into a goal by Arif Aiman, making it 1-0.
After taking a one-goal lead, Malaysia grew more comfortable pressing Bangladesh and threatened again with a shot from Bergson that missed the target. Arif Aiman doubled Malaysia's lead to 2-0 by scoring his second goal of the match in the 37th minute, capitalizing on a pass from Stuart Wilkin.
At the start of the second half, Malaysia took the initiative and extended their lead to 3–0 with a goal from Bergson following a pass from Corbin Ong in the 52nd minute.
Despite holding a three-goal lead, Malaysia did not ease up on their attack and created another opportunity through a shot by Brad Tapp, though it failed to find the back of the Bangladesh net.
Malaysia continued to pressure the Bangladeshi defense in the remaining time, but the Harimau Malaya's 3-0 lead held firm until the final whistle.
