At least Five workers died and more than 10 were injured in a massive explosion that occurred at TIL Healthcare facility within the Sri City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Satyavedu mandal of Tirupati district on Saturday (October 3, 2026) morning around 8 a.m.
Two workers reportedly died on the spot and another three lost their lives while availing treatment at the hospital. Although initial reports and Sri City representatives placed the death toll at four, Tirupati SP L. Subbarayudu confirmed that five people have died.
According to the sources, a boiler exploded at the formulations manufacturing unit. The exact reason for the accident is yet to be known.
Several workers in the morning shift were caught in the fire. The injured persons were immediately admitted into a hospital in Sri City premises.
Expressing grief over the incident, IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh said, "The accident at a private factory in Sri City has come as a profound shock. It is a deep tragedy that workers lost their lives and others were injured due to a boiler explosion. I pray to the Almighty for peace to the souls of the deceased."
Extending condolences to the bereaved families, he urged the officials to ensure that those critically injured in the accident receive the best possible medical care. He assured that the government will stand by the families of the deceased in every possible way.
Home Minister V. Anitha also expressed shock over the accident at Sri City. She spoke with Tirupati district officials over the phone.
She said, "It is tragic that workers lost their lives due to a boiler explosion. My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. The government will stand by the families of the deceased."
The Home Minister directed the officials to ensure the injured receive the best medical care.
