Following Alleged Illegal Parking Fees for Food Trucks at Alkid, Yogyakarta Dishub Prepares QRIS Parking Payments

YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Transportation Department (Dishub) of Yogyakarta City plans to implement digital payment using QRIS for parking fees.

This measure is aimed at preventing illegal levies (pungli) similar to the incident that occurred at Alun-alun Kidul (Alkid).

Previously, a food truck entrepreneur complained about alleged illegal charges while operating at the Alun-alun Kidul area.

According to a viral video on social media, the entrepreneur was asked to pay a certain amount of money for parking and meals over five days from September 16 to 20, 2026.

The parking fee requested amounted to Rp 1 million per day.

After operating for just one day, the food truck owner decided to stop selling at Alun-alun Kidul and relocate to another place.

The Head of Dishub Yogyakarta City, Agus Arif Nugroho, said that to prevent similar incidents from happening again, the agency is preparing several measures.

First is to provide education to parking attendants to maintain proper conduct when serving tourists or residents.

“That’s why some time ago we also gave training on excellent service and so forth,” he said on Tuesday (22/9/2026).

Additionally, they are working to expand parking digitalization coverage, namely payment methods by scanning QRIS barcodes.

“Yes, we are striving to gradually implement cashless payment methods across Yogyakarta City,” he added.

Regarding the alleged illegal levies at Alun-alun Kidul, he explained that the city government is currently coordinating with various parties.

Dishub Yogyakarta City also fully entrusts the case of alleged illegal levies to the police.

“We respect the legal process, so we leave it to the Police,” he said.

Asked about parking permits, Arif could not provide detailed information.
