Foreign nationals’ details must be reported within 24 hours of their arrival, Chittoor SP cautions host establishments

Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi said that any private management or individuals providing accommodation to foreigners must mandatorily register their details online within 24 hours of their arrival.
In a statement on Sunday (October 4, 2026), the SP said hotels, guest houses, private house owners, hospitals, hostels, ashrams, choultries, educational institutions, and other establishments hosting foreign nationals must upload arrival, stay, and departure information to FRRO and FRO offices through digital mode.
According to Section 8 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, passport, visa, personal, and accommodation details should be entered on https://indianfrro.gov.in and submitted within 24 hours. Management must not show negligence in registration, he said.
Warning of strict action, Dudi said failure to register details through Form III and Form C portal will attract a penalty of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh or a jail term of two to seven years or both under Section 23(b) of the Act.
He said hotels and institutions must strictly follow legal procedures while providing accommodation. Foreigners visiting district for work, education, medical or tourism must respect Indian laws and carry valid visa and passport.
The SP further clarified that Overseas Citizens of India cannot contest or vote in any elections in India and cannot purchase agricultural land in the country.
