Former Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe has died at the age of 52.   

Former Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe has died at the age of 52.   

According to his family, Phasiwe died on Monday following a seizure.   

The former communications expert had battled seizures for several years.   

He spent a full decade at the power utility, Eskom, heading up its communications department during the height of load shedding.   

Phasiwe’s career spanned over 20 years, transitioning from financial journalism into high-profile corporate communication roles across major state entities and the private sector.   

In his most recent role, Phasiwe served as the spokesperson for the Office of the Public Protector, following his appointment in May 2024.   

He also served as head of communications at Air Traffic and Navigation Services.   

His family has confirmed he will be laid to rest this weekend.
