A medical assistance program dedicated to provide indigent Filipinos (certified by Medical Social Service Units of public/government hospitals) afflicted with various illnesses with free medicines, surgical supplies, laboratory exams, and other medical services. Special cases requiring extensive medical treatments are also being accommodated by the program as Subject of Appeal (SOA) cases featured in the Kapusong Totoo segment of 24 Oras to generate support. Part of the KKK program are special health projects, most of which are in line with the monthly themes of the Department of Health.
In partnership with volunteer health professionals and community workers, KK is a roving medical mission in far-flung areas where basic health services are inaccessible. The project also serves disaster-stricken areas to ensure the health and welfare of victims.
In order to reduce the dropout rate among poor Filipino children in public elementary school due to lack of school supplies (as cited by the Department of Education), the GMA Kapuso Foundation initiated the Unang Hakbang Sa Kinabukasan Project to help both the parents and the students for the next school opening. Yearly, incoming Kindergarten and Grade 1 students from public elementary schools nationwide are each provided with one UHSK backpack containing a complete set of school materials that includes 5 notebooks, 2 pads of papers, 2 pencils, a sharpener, an eraser, and a set of crayons.
Operation Bayanihan provides immediate relief and assistance to victims of natural and man-made calamities nationwide. It is the foundation’s project set to provide quick response to the basic needs of our fellow Filipinos in disaster-stricken areas.
The bi-annual bloodletting project of the GMA Kapuso Foundation, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and the Ever Gotesco Mall/Go Tong Foundation, promotes volunteerism by donating blood to help save and extend the lives of others. In 2017, GMA Kapuso Foundation began holding separate bloodletting projects in partner colleges and universities to instil volunteerism among students.
Give-A-Gift is an annual project of the GMA Kapuso Foundation devoted for the betterment of underprivileged children from poor and far-flung areas. Each sub-project under Give-A-Gift is designated to address different and specific needs of children from 7 sectors namely: Children with Congenital Defects, Children from Indigenous Communities, Malnourished Children, Children with Cancer, Children of Incarcerated Mothers, Children of Farmers and Fisher-folks and Children living in Conflict Areas.
• GAG: Feed A Child addresses the nutritional needs of children suffering from severe malnutrition by enrolling them in a 120-day sustained feeding program, in coordination with the National Nutrition Council. • GAG: Surgical provides free surgical operation to children with hernia. This is conducted in partnership with volunteer pediatric surgeons and medical societies. • GAG: Kapuso Cancer Champions (formerly GAG: Cancer Kids) project provides children with cancer with free chemotherapy treatment. • GAG: Distribution of Noche Buena package is dedicated to bring the spirit of Christmas and sharing to children in underprivileged communities by giving them Noche Buena packs, toys, and other special gifts.
It is a community-based tree planting project commonly done in areas where GMAKF rebuild schools damaged by calamities. KNK opts to prevent further erosion and landslides, particularly in areas affected by widespread flooding and deadly landslides, and to impart environmental awareness and compassion towards Mother Earth.
A project intended for the benefit of victims whose homes were devastated by calamities, to the GMA Kapuso Foundation, it is not just another housing project. It is a symbol of hope, new beginnings, new dreams, and new precious memories yet to come.
In 2014, the completion of our 403-unit concrete housing project allowed us to turn over permanent houses to Yolanda survivors. The Kapuso Village in Tacloban is our response to provide long-term and sustainable relief to the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda, the worst storm to ever hit the Philippines.
In 2013, the 180-unit long term housing project for the Typhoon Sendong affected families was completed. The houses in Phase 1 in Brgy. Mandulog and Phase 2 in Sitio Tubaran make up the Kapuso Village in Iligan City.
In 2006, the Kapuso Village in Lilo-an, Southern Leyte was the pilot project of GMA Kapuso Foundation in building homes for calamity victims. 100 houses were given to those affected by the St. Bernard landslide in Leyte.
In our Kapuso Village in Palo, Leyte, 169 units had been constructed. It is the 5th Kapuso Village nationwide.
Launched in 2017, the project aims to connect remote communities to trade and learning centers by reconstructing demolished bridges. Building efforts are currently directed in the municipality of Buhi in Camarines Sur.
