Four members of a family were burnt to death in a fire in their house at Chavatgalli in Belagavi, in Karnataka, due to a short circuit on September 14.
Gajanan Damone, 65, Roshan, 21, Sharada, 45, and Bharati, 50, died. Two other family members – Priya Damone, 28, and Ganga Damone, 25 – have been admitted to a private hospital for treatment of injuries.
Police suspect that a refrigerator caught fire when high voltage power began flowing in a wire connected to it. The fire spread to other parts of the house. All the family members were caught in the tin shed structure, and could not run out to safety.
Senior officers inspected the house, and an investigation is on.
