TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At the official residence of National Mandate Party (PAN) General Chair and Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan in Widya Chandra, South Jakarta, Viva Yoga Mauladi discussed various topics, including revisions to the General Election Law. Although the voting process is set to begin next year, the rules are still not in place.

Viva said Zulkifli had asked senior PAN officials to continue monitoring and reviewing the proposed revisions to the General Election Law. “Especially the parliamentary and presidential thresholds,” the Deputy Minister of Transmigration told Tempo in South Jakarta on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

For a party such as PAN, electoral thresholds are a crucial issue as preparations for the 2029 General Election get underway. The Constitutional Court has ordered lawmakers to revise the parliamentary threshold, which had previously been set at 4 percent. The Court has also set the presidential nomination threshold at 0 percent. The two rulings will determine which parties make it into the House of Representatives (DPR) and shape future coalition configurations.

According to Viva, PAN is pushing for the parliamentary threshold to be lower than the previous requirement. “If possible, 0 percent, because even the 4 percent threshold has been ruled out by the Constitutional Court,” he said.
