The event aims to bring together more than 6,000 business representatives, publishers and investors.

Mathias Kuepper, managing director and vice-president of Asia-Pacific at Koelnmesse Pte Ltd, said the firm sees Thailand as the true heart of the gaming industry in the region.

Thailand offers world-class event infrastructure, direct international flight connections, affordable hotel accommodation and strong government backing, he said.

Organised by Koelnmesse, Show No Limit and Online Station under True Corporation, the event is supported by the German Games Industry Association and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa).

The trade fair run from Oct 29 to Nov 1 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and is expected to attract more than 200,000 gamers, creators and young people. A showcase for new games, the event allows Asian game developers to explore global partnerships as international publishers look for the next big thing.

As an organiser of global trade fairs, Koelnmesse brings extensive expertise in business-to-business networking, a dedicated business matchmaking platform called "gamescom biz", and internationally recognised standards for vetting business partners.

Pongsuk Hiranprueck, chief executive of Show No Limit, said the event leverages its deep understanding of Thailand's gaming landscape and communities, while joining forces with global partners such as Gamescom Asia and Koelnmesse.

Mr Pongsuk said the event aims to move Thailand beyond being a consumer market for imported content towards becoming a genuine creator and exporter of Thai-made games to the global marketplace.

Supakorn Sitthichai, acting president of depa, said while the domestic gaming market is estimated at 37 billion baht, local development accounts for a mere 800 million baht.

The event is expected to facilitate 2,389 business matching sessions, generating more than 1.2 billion baht in business negotiations.

The exhibitor line-up spans 29 countries and territories across four continents, with 20 national pavilions representing 12 key markets worldwide.
