Ganesh immersion concludes peacefully in Kurnool

The Ganesh idol immersion rituals concluded on a grand and peaceful note in Kurnool city, with over 2,100 idols immersed at three different locations.

According to officials, Minister for Indutries T.G. Bharath Gupta took the initiative of providing alternative arrangements for Ganesh idol immersion in the Handri-Neeva canal, considering the water situation in the district. Advance arrangements were made at three sites, including Vinayaka Ghat on K-C Canal, Handri-Neeva near Nannur toll plaza on the city outskirts, and Ulindakonda.

At Nannur toll plaza, 1,050 idols were immersed in Handri-Neeva, while about 1,000 idols were immersed at Vinayaka Ghat in K-C Canal. Another 96 idols were immersed at Ulindakonda. The immersion at Handri-Neeva continued till the early hours of Wednesday.

The police said that the rush of idols at Handri-Neeva increased after 12 a.m. Devotees brought large Ganesh idols in procession despite heavy rainfall. A long queue of vehicles carrying idols was seen on the highway near the toll plaza.

Officials said that despite the heavy turnout after midnight, the immersion ceremony completed smoothly due to proper planning. Cranes were deployed for the immersion of huge idols and staff were positioned at all three sites.
