Giants' Cam Skattebo not afraid of facing Aaron Donald: 'Going to be fun' - Rams Wire

The New York Giants are preparing as if Aaron Donald will make his season debut for the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Based on the way things are trending, that’s probably wise; Donald seems about ready to suit up after sitting out Week 1 in Australia.

Cam Skattebo is looking forward to potentially facing Donald in Monday night’s showdown, even if he has to meet the future Hall of Famer in the hole on third-and-1. He has a ton of respect for the Rams legend, but he pointed to the fact that Donald hasn’t played a game since the 2023 season and he hasn’t practiced much, either.

“Yeah, I mean, he's had a couple years off and I'm sure he's ready to go and excited to play. But he's still got to play football,” Skattebo said on Thursday. “He hasn't practiced a ton. He hasn't played in a game yet or played a ton. So, I mean, if it is his first game, then he's got to be ready for it just like we do. So, I'm excited to play against him. He's one of the best to ever do it. It's going to be fun. It's going to be a good challenge for the guys up front. It's going to be a good challenge. If I have to meet him in the hole on third and one, then so be it. I've got to get one yard. But he's a good player. He's one of the best to ever do it. So, all respect to him.”

Donald has been ramping up in preparation for his 2026 debut, staying back in Los Angeles to keep training rather than flying to Australia and adding unnecessary wear on his body. He practiced in full on Thursday and afterwards, Sean McVay said he’s “hopeful” the star defender will suit up against the Giants.

The Rams are essentially leaving it up to Donald, though. If he feels good enough to play, he can take the field.

With Myles Garrett out, the Rams could use Donald more than ever, especially against a Giants offense that put up 28 points and ran for 165 yards in their Week 1 win over the Cowboys.
