Giants could sign ex-Broncos QB after Jaxson Dart injury; Saints cut ex-Denver RB - Broncos Wire

After losing starting quarterback Jaxson Dart to what could be a season-ending knee injury, the New York Giants are turning their offense over to Jameis Winston.

New York also has Jake Haener available on the practice squad, and the Giants "could bring back" Brandon Allen, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Allen went to training camp with the G-Men this summer but was cut when the team's 53-man roster was set. The 34-year-old veteran was a backup with the Denver Broncos in 2019, going 1-2 as a fill-in starter.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints cut running back Audric Estime from injured reserve with an injury settlement on Tuesday, according to the NFL's transaction wire. The 23-year-old running back entered the league as a fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame with the Broncos in 2024. After rushing for 310 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie, Estime was cut by Denver in 2025. He then spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles before later landing with the Saints.

Elsewhere on the ex-Bronco front, rookie long snapper Luke Basso had tryouts with the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins before landing on Miami's practice squad; safety Tanner McCalister had a tryout with the Washington Commanders, who signed cornerback Isaac Yiadom; safety Kerion Smith signed with the Chicago Bears' practice squad; rookie pass rusher Dasan McCullough had a tryout with the Cleveland Browns; and international tight end Patrick Murtagh had a tryout with the New England Patriots.
