GMO Internet Group says it is working with partners and the police to track down hackers that breached its cloud servers. The company has taken down a website on which the hackers said they had posted stolen information.

The company, a major provider of internet and financial services, says its own white-hat hacker team is tracking the group and it will share the information with the police. The website said to contain information belonging to a GMO customer was shut down on Wednesday.

The company says it offered a reward for help in identifying the hackers and is examining the information it has received.

GMO announced last week that unauthorized parties had accessed its servers.

The group claiming responsibility said it posted GMO client information on a website on Tuesday. It demanded payment of 1 million dollars or it would release more personal information every day at noon.

Telecommunications operators were reportedly asked by Japan's communications ministry to block access to the hackers' site.

GMO says it will not comply with the demands from the hackers. No client details were released on Wednesday.
