Good Party questions legitimacy of Zille’s campaign to be Joburg’s next mayor

The Good Party is questioning the legitimacy of Helen Zille’s campaign to be Johannesburg’s next mayor, saying it’s well-known that the former Democratic Alliance (DA) leader has only recently moved to the City of Gold while her spouse continues to live in Cape Town.

The former Cape Town Mayor and Western Cape Premier moved to Johannesburg full-time this year to focus on her campaign to be the city’s number one citizen.

But the party that was formed after the Independent Democrats (ID) merger with the DA fell apart.

The Good Party believes she may not have met the requirements to contest that election in terms of the electoral law.

After the DA last week filed an Electoral Court case challenging four parties’ decision to include only one candidate on its proportional representation candidate lists for several municipalities, the Good Party is firing back.
